New York, NY – August 18, 2018 – Infinity is the inspiration for 81818: Towards Infinity, a temporary immersive art experience occupying an unused retail space in Chelsea, NYC. Collaborating with real estate partner 507 West Chelsea, YTG Agency produced the art event, which is the first solo show by Jacob M Fisher Studio. The immersive experience opens on 8/18/18, which acts as the inspiration for the name and concept of the show.
The artist, Jacob M Fisher said of the piece, “This space really dictates how and what we could build there. So we’re working with the basic elements of environment to create the flow. Even the space’s pillars are actually part of The High Line (which sits above the space). So we look at what already exists and then build on top of that to define how people experience their everyday lives.”
Richard J. Heby of YTG Agency said, “At the core of 81818: Towards Infinity it’s always been about bringing a profound experience directly to the people. We’re rejecting the idea that art is only for galleries or collectors. By doing so, we can adapt to a new model of consumption. People value experiences over objects.”
506 W29th street is one of the retail spaces attached to 507 West Chelsea, a luxury apartment rentals building. The collaboration between the landlord for 507 West Chelsea and the art teams marks a growing trend among real estate companies to use experiential marketing tactics to drive people to their spaces.
“My love of real estate and the arts came together in this project that my brother imagined a year ago,” said Alex Heby, working with 507 West Chelsea. “Despite time and budget constraints, we saw the project through, and it end up exceeding our expectations.”
