Gateway Blossom was a site-specific piece of Public Art that was installed in the Village of Red Hook’s Memorial Park.
Over 500 white balloons were fastened to colored mason line that hovered roughly ten feet above the ground. The overwhelming repetition of forms and the mesmerizing movement of the string and balloons, resulting from the breeze and wind, created a dynamic piece of work that activated and transformed this under-utilized park. The playful nature of the colorful string and the innate essence of the balloons resulted in a piece of public art that was approachable and enjoyable for all. Gateway Blossom existed in unison with the blossoming colors of spring and highlighted the beauty of this historic park.
