Katie Gallagher NYFW Runway Show

City: New York, NY

Date: February 2017

Location: Projective Space

Description:

studioSPACEnyc collaborated with fashion designer Katie Gallagher for her NYFW17 runway show. The two site-specific installations made by Artist Jacob M Fisher created a transformative and interactive experience for the 300 attendees.

The first installation was installed in the  passageway connecting the backstage area to the rest of the runway. Models emerged from the installation by walking through an opening in 1000+ pieces of white mason string, suspended from the ceiling, hovering right above the ground.

The second piece for this show existed in the airspace directly behind the runway, floating high above the ground. This piece set the scene and created a backdrop for the runway. It consisted of 2000+ pieces of mason line, with a majority of white strings and hints of black and vibrant orange (the two prevalent colors in Katie's FW17 line). Onto both installations projections were mapped of scenery and imagery that inspire Katie's work, these projections created dynamic & colorful visuals complementing the FW17 line.
